The HOG-7 is encountered for the third and final time in the Atomic Garden. Later, when P-3 boards the train, the HOG-7 crashes the vehicle, nearly killing Alekseyevich.
P-3 encountered the Hedgie previously, albeit briefly, in the Vavilov complex. The HOG-8 model comes with the latest technology for transmitting information over the air. The Hedgie collects and immediately analyzes available topographical and surveying materials - all cartographic information is stored on a hard disk inside the robot. There are special drills and a compressor inside the Hedgie's paws, which can easily collect valuable resources from the ground. In an alternate movement mode called "Tumbleweed" - when accelerated, the robot retracts its long paws and rolls.
Despite its impressive bulk, the Hedgie can reach speeds even beyond 30 mph. The HOG-7 is a large surveying robot used to collect rare plants and rocks.
